Inspiration on a Thursday

We all need it, and we all crave it, so here you go: Some typographic animated inspiration set to music. Take a break for a couple minutes now and clear you mind a bit, will you?

I don’t know what does it, but I myself has been devoid of drive for a short while now. I need to recharge the batteries. This morning has been slow, and I’ve been doing work, I don’t feel satisfied with anything I make. Just one of those days, eh? Wrong. I’m not doing AWESOME because I haven’t bothered looking for that little piece of energy I have somewhere. And now, short before lunch, I think I found it.

A video like the one above opens doors. I remember a few of my entrepreneurial (what a word!) dreams, and actually believe that some of them are within reach. Granted, I’ll need to find the right people to cooperate with, but those exist. In fact, you might be one of them! There are a huge mass of ideas in there.

And to wake myself up: I have my current dream job at the moment. I’m a graphic designer, and I’m sitting on top of a warehouse filled with candy. Life is great!

So why this lack of inspiration? It’s not just me. I see it everywhere. I see so many fantastic people not striving to reach their full potential. I try to kick some arses and make people see the opportunities that lies ahead. Some of them don’t want to try because «I’m not good enough, I need to make this piece perfect before I try» and «I need a complete showreel» and «I don’t have enouugh experience». WAKE UP PEOPLE! YOU have the potential of becoming AWESOME!

I fear I might sound like a preacher here, but it’s true!

In the creative business, there’s always a certain chance you won’t get the job/placement you’re applying for. Even being invited to an interview doesn’t grant you a job at once. But are all the employers looking at how perfect your portfolio/showreel is? How about jobs relying more on personality and what your CV/cover letter says?

If you find that dream job, go for it! If the job seems perfect to you, you’ll be able to seem perfect for the job! And when you get there, strive to be greater than anticipated!

And now I’ll go back to the entrepreneurial parts. I have a few ideas. Some of them I want to see put to life in or around Oslo within a few years time. Some of them relates purely to design, some are more game related, and all of them are my babies. I can still put them to life. They are within my reach.

Now wake up and smell the flowers, you fools!
